Frequently Asked Questions

How will I join my online appointment?
A secure link to our HIPAA-compliant platform powered by Zoom will be sent via email and text 12-24 hours prior to your appointment. If you are having difficult logging on at the time of your appointment, your provider will call and assist.
What is a Psychiatrist? How is that different from a Psychologist?
Psychiatrists are medical doctors who specialize in mental health and can prescribe medication to treat mental illnesses. They attend four years of medical school and undergo an additional four years of training in their specialty. Aside from treating with medication, they are also trained in psychotherapy techniques. Psychologists are mental health professionals who use talk therapy to help patients. While both professions focus on mental health, their approaches and training differ.
What will happen in my appointment?
In your first appointment, your doctor will gather a detailed history, and collaborate with you on a treatment plan that is individualized to you. This appointment is usually 50 minutes, but if more time is needed, your provider may schedule an additional appointment to complete the history. Once a plan is established, follow-up appointments are typically 20-30 minutes.
